3. Rotaract District 3190

He had served Rotaract, the Youth wing of Rotary in various capacities, from being a member in 2001-02 amongst 8 people to being President of one Rotaract Club managing 360+ people in the Rotaract Club of Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College in 2003-04 and also served as the District Director, International Service in the same year. He was awarded best President in the District in 2003-04.

He later was appointed as the Zonal Rotaract Representative in 2004-05 for Zone I. in 2006-07 he was appointed District Chairman – Membership Development and served as the President of the Rotaract Club of Bangalore South in 2007-08.

In 2008-09 he served the District as District Rotaract Representative, representing R I District 3190 (Bangalore and 8 other revenue Districts) Internationally and managing 40+ Presidents and 2000+ Rotaractor’s.

Karthik brings with himself the diversity & experience of working with various Departments in the Government, NGO’s, Schools, Colleges & Media Houses.

Some of the Highlights of the year were:

The Annual Rotaract District Conference hosted by the Council was unique and first of its kind in the history of the District as he was also instrumental in planning executing the Model Corporation Council – a first of its kind initiative taken by the Rotaractor’s to involve in civic governance. The Chief Guest for the Conference was Mr Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha and Chairman – ABIDe) Agenda for Bengaluru Insfrastructure Development. The Guest of Honor was PRID Rtn Dr M K Panduranga Setty, Trustee, The Rotary Foundation India and President RSST Trust. The Model Corporation Council conducted at the Conference aimed to make the Citizens of this Country aware that the Rotaractor’s care for Bengaluru and would want to be a part of the team that would shape the city’s & country’s future.

This Panel Discussion on civic issues was conceptualized by him and the panelists he got in to judge the Model Corporation Council and later advise the Rotaractor’s were Hon’ble Justice Santosh Hegde, Lokayukta of Karnataka(Ex Solicitor General of India & Ex-Judge Supreme Court of India), Mr Ishwar Daitota, Editor, Times of India, Kannada, Mr Praveen Sood, Addl Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City, Prof Rajeev Gowda, Professor, IIMB, Lt Col Sanjay Thakur, ASC Bengaluru, Mrs Poornima Shenoy, President, India Semiconductor Association, Mr Suroop Gopalakrishnan, Regional Head- South India, Datacraft India Limited.

The Conference also saw Rotaract District Council’s tie ups with the Media Strengthening as we partnered with Times of India as our Media Partner, Radio Indigo as our Radio Partner & INOX as our Multiplex Partner.

Rotaract District 3190 in association with www.changebengaluru.org jointly organized a Candidates Caucus between the candidates for the Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Seat – Bangalore South. The BJP had fielded its National General Secretary Sri Ananth Kumar, a post-graduate in Political Science with a law degree and expected to play a major role if the NDA gets a majority, Congress had given a ticket to US educated, two-term MLA Sri Krishna Byre Gowda, JD-S had fielded Prof K E Radhakrisha, noted educationist, who has taught for over 3 decades & finally aviation entrepreneur and alumni of the prestigious National Defence Academy, Capt. Gopinath contested as an independent candidate. The discussions were moderated by Mr Mohandas Pai Member of the Board Director-Human Resources, Education and Research Infosys Technologies

The Asian DRR Elect’s Training Seminar 2009, was hosted by Rotaract District 3190 as voted by all District Rotaract Representative’s in Mumbai at the Asian DRR Elect’s Training Seminar 2008.

It was a rare and prestigious honor to Rotaract District 3190 as the Council was hosting an International Event after 20 years. The Event saw DRR Elect’s participate from all over India, Nepal & Sri Lanka.

Inspire – Asian DRR Elect’s Training Seminar 2009 was an opportunity for all DRR Elect’s to get trained & be a visionary to lead their respective Districts, to learn and to help unfold their vision into a reality for the benefit of the society and the Rotaract movement at large. All the incoming leaders underwent classroom sessions & outdoor sessions.

Rtr Karthik V K had the rare honor to preside over this meeting as he was the serving District Rotaract Representative of the host District – Rotaract District 3190 and also served as the Secretary for the DRR’s Meet during the Asian DRR Elect’s Training Seminar 2009.
